5 books and literary sagas that deserve to have a videogame
We are living a moment in which many of the series and successful films are being adapted from books, novels or comics; And at the same time, the audiovisual industry is also nourished by characters, mechanics and universes typical of video games. However, it is not normal at all that books end up becoming games.
Of course there are direct cases such as The Witcher, METRO 2033, or even some more referential as Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Dynasty Warriors (The odyssey of the monkey king and the romance of the three kingdoms). But if it is time for the games to be inspired a little more in literature, we bring you a few options.
Mist born — Brandon Sanderson
Few literary sagas are more gaming than born of the mist. Several skills, including one that allows us to move through the air making use of coins, a finite amount of powers that we must be filled with some bottles full of metals, a terrifying enemy like the Lord Legislator... Mist born asks to be screaming to be a game.
Shadow and Bone — Leigh Bakugo
Here is a saga that represents the juvenile novels of fantasy, and it could well be an adventure game the sea of could. The characters are growing during the development of history, allowing a very interesting progression, while the mapping could be a fascinating open world because of the black mist who tears the continent in half.
The Time Wheel — Robert Jordan
The more than 10 books of the Robert Jordan saga could well be unable with a narrative or adventure game. Therefore, we opted for a little larger genre and that could focus on an aspect like the world itself. We are talking about an MMO in the World of Warcraft, where we can choose to be an AES Sedan, a warrior peasant or all kinds of characters that populate the world of time.
The Expense — James S. A. Corey
It had to be a space opera here, and what better the expanse of James S. A. Corey, or what is the same, the pseudonym of the authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. The television series enjoys some success, but what we want is to be able to colonize the solar system. Something narrative, but being able to handle some ships, we would get luxurious.
Raquel — Julio Cortana
In addition to being a magnificent work, Raquel is a fully customizable experience. It can be read in several ways, arriving at the end and distinct developments. Just, combined with his magical realism, would be ideal for Annapurna to work with it. In fact, many already enjoyed with Kentucky Route Zero, tremendously inspired by this genre.
